Our Story
30 years in sarees. 25 years of Jamkudi.
I’m Mitesh (Pintu), founder of Jamkudi. This is how a saree counter grew into a manufacturer in Surat – and why you will always speak to us, not a salesman.

Mitesh (Pintu) · Founder, Jamkudi
“I have always believed in meeting people in person.”
Where I began
Sarees have been my life for 30 years
I have been in the saree business for 30 years. I spent my first five years working at my maternal uncle’s, where I learned how the market really moves – what buyers ask for, and what makes them come back. Then I started Jamkudi, and it has now stood for 25 years.
The trade is also in my blood. My father started in saree retail, and he taught me the lesson I still live by: respect every customer, whether they buy one piece or a hundred.
How we grew
From a counter to our own machines
01
Retail
It began with my father’s retail shop, where I watched how he treated every customer.
02
Wholesale
I moved us into wholesale and built lasting relationships with traders and agents across India.
03
Manufacturing
Today I manufacture on our own rapier machines in Sachin, Surat, with dyeing, zarkan and khatli work done in-house.
The people behind Jamkudi
Trust is what we are built on
Over the years I have earned the trust of our weavers, khatli and zarkan artisans, dyers, agents and customers. They are the reason we are where we are today, and I am grateful to every one of them.
Weavers
Cloth woven on machines we run ourselves.
Artisans
Khatli and zarkan hands that give a saree its character.
Dyers
The colour work behind our top-dyed and dyeable cloth.
Agents & customers
Buyers who come back season after season.
A family-run business
You deal with the owners
Jamkudi is a family business, and our whole team is family. Many companies run through salesmen and purchasers. Here, when you send a message, you speak to the owners – the people who care most about your business.
If you can, come and see us in person. Nothing beats sitting down together over the sarees.
